Forms of Hypnotherapy:

Suggestion Hypnotherapy

Within hypnosis, (which is associated with a deep state of relaxation), the therapist is able to bypass the conscious (rational) part of the mind to give suggestions (for the client’s welfare) into the subconscious mind. This is very useful for encouraging new habits. But, unless the underlying motivation is addressed, the old habit can come back again. This is because, on its own, it does not address the root cause of an issue or behaviour and it is not effective at creating a long-term solution where there has been trauma involved (think of the analogy of a weed).

Suggestion hypnotherapy is the most commonly used form of hypnosis. Commercial hypnotherapy recordings and apps use this method, which are very generalised and do not address a client’s individual needs.

However, suggestion hypnotherapy is a very effective method for treating children. They are very in touch with their imaginations and can use their capacity to fantasise and visualise in hypnosis to create positive outcomes for their lives.

Advanced Structural Hypnotherapy "The Austin Technique"

Valerie Austin, one of the world's leading hypnotherapists created the Austin Technique. Having trained with Ormond McGill1, Gill Boyne2, Bill Atkinson-Ball3 and many others. She combined all her experiences and training to design a rigorous structure that uses the best of everything. This technique has been put to the test over many years, helping people overcome such issues as fears and phobias, eating disorders, stress and irritable bowel syndrome. In 1989 she created the highly effective Stop Smoking in One Hour program, (see our Stop Smoking page).

Advanced Structural Hypnosis "The Austin Technique", when it is properly applied, with full client commitment, creates a lasting solution as it gives the client the opportunity to overcome unwanted habits, behaviours, negative thought patterns and negative emotions that can cripple, limit or restrict. When we work with someone, it is like a creative partnership where we create new patterns and behaviours and refreshing ways of thinking.

Could Hypnosis Works Hold the Key For You?

Your mind is like a computer. As Austin trained therapists we are like skilled computer programmers who will help you to “re-programme” your subconscious to help you make the changes you require.

When you programme your subconscious like this, it helps you to re-define your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, helping you to generate new ways of thinking and behaving so that you create the life that you want.

We have found that using the Austin Technique enables our clients to achieve dramatic, unprecedented results. Quickly.

This Type of Therapy is Rare

Advanced Structural Hypnotherapy involves the expertise of the hypnotherapist to gain direct access to your subconscious, or inner mind and the knack of finding the source of the problem. Once the root of the problem has been found, it can be dealt with.

Similar to an expert computer hacker, the advanced hypnotherapist eliminates the ‘mind viruses’ causing the problem(s). Once these ‘mind viruses’ are removed and the ‘new’ behaviour or thought pattern reprogrammed, the problem can be fixed. This process normally takes 4-6 sessions.

Success Rates

Advanced Structural Hypnotherapy (regression based therapy combined with direct suggestion hypnosis) have been reported in numerous research studies in the mid 90 per cents, across a wide range of problems*. It appears that when it does not work is when (a) either the client does not commit to fixing the problem, or (b) there is secondary gain i.e. a bigger gain from keeping the problem rather than getting rid of it. An example of this would be someone who gains financially or emotionally for their problem which gives them a certain amount of control. They know that if they resolve their issue that they will have to take responsibility for themselves and some of the attention they have been getting will be lost.
